Privat habe ich aus Gründen der informationellen Selbstbestimmung keine Big-Tech Social-Media Accounts, das wird auch so bleiben. Im Arbeitsumfeld nutze ich die Möglichkeit, für die Durchsetzung der DSGVO zu sorgen und die Fediverse-Alternativen zu promoten.

Twitter/Mastodon erinnert mich an einen Besuch im Altenheim, jede/r brabbelt für sich vor sich hin, war noch nie mein Ding.
An Lemmy gefällt mir der Community-Aspekt, welcher zumindest irgendwo eine gemeinsame Themen-/Interessensbasis zugrunde legt.

Feddit.de runs well on a hetzner 2core, 4gig ram vps. (Single-core felt a bit sloppy, so go for 2+ cores.)
As for the distro, doesn’t really make much of a difference, as lemmy is run in docker containers
